in france again.
i was doing an interview earlier and we were talking about the anti-french sentiment in the u.s.
and i compared it to playground politics, where the u.s was a big playground bully preparing to do something deeply stupid(like peeing on an electric fence), and france was the equivalent of someone standing in the playground saying ‘well, i don’t think that’s such a good idea’, and the playground bully(aka-the u.s) has a belligerent hissy fit because he’s so accustomed to getting his own way because he’s the biggest and the richest and no one ever tells him ‘no’.
and it turns out that the french(and just about everyone else in the world)were correct, peeing on the electric fence(aka-invading iraq) has proven to be a disaster, not just for the u.s, but for the world.
i mean, even right-wing americans are finally admitting that the invasion/occupation of iraq was a terrible idea.
it’s cost over $300 billion dollars and the casualties and deaths just keep increasing and increasing and the region is even less stable now than it was before the war and there’s apparently no end in sight.
and now we see that there’s hard documentation, the downing st report, that shows that intelligence was supressed(literally and figuratively)in the run up to the war.
it still amazes me that anyone in the bush administration still has a job.
in a perfect world they all would’ve been impeached years ago.
