i shouldn’t be mad…i shouldn’t be mad… but this makes me boiling mad:

http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/09/29/911-health-care-bill-passes

republicans are, generally, opposing health care funding for people in new york (firemen, policemen, rescue workers, etc) who were harmed by the debris and fallout from 9-11.

so, let me get this straight:

republicans routinely reference 9-11 when talking about national security.
republicans routinely reference 9-11 when talking about the need for more defense funding.
republicans used 9-11 to justify invading iraq.
republicans had their convention here (nyc) in 2004 so they could stand in the figurative shadow of the twin towers.
republicans used 9-11 to justify huge spending increases in counter terrorism in republican states like wyoming and montana.

but almost TWO HUNDRED republicans in congress voted to DENY health care funding to nyc rescue workers who were harmed on 9-11.

i try to not to write these updates when i’m mad, but this makes me furious. simply: how dare they? how dare republicans use 9-11 for their own venal purposes but vote to DENY funding to firemen, policemen, and rescue workers in new york city? i have never, ever in my life been more repulsed or disgusted by republican hypocrisy than i am today. any republican with a conscience should quit the republican party today.

if democrats voted to deny health care to 9-11 rescue workers i would immediately end my involvement with the democratic party. republicans with a conscience should do the same thing.
