Journal / i love crumbly abandoned buildings.

i don't know why i love crumbly abandoned buildings so much.  the entropy?  the humility?  the odd narratives they radiate?

in any case: i love crumbly abandoned buildings.  and, lo and behold, hollywood is full of them.  well, not detroit-style full, but compared to most western cities l.a has a pretty amazing abundance of abandoned buildings.

there's the fear with an abandoned building, that it will succumb to the sad trajectory of: abandoned building>parking lot>construction site>crappy beige new awful thing.  and then you look at the new crappy beige awful buildings and hope that someday they will succumb to entropy.  hopefully sooner rather than later.  as even crappy beige awful buildings are slightly redeemed by entropy and abandonment.

here's a big abandoned building, almost a complex.  crumbly and stolid at the same time.  sandblasted by desert wind and sun.
