hotel rooms.
it’s been a while since we’ve been on tour, so, it’s been a while since i’ve been cooped up in a hotel room. i suppose i could go for a stroll and look at the desolate office buildings that are sweltering under 98 degree heat…hmm, that sounds appealing.
we’re in atlanta for a couple of days doing rehearsals, and i have to say that apart from rehearsing there just isn’t that much going on.
i’m sure that there are wonderful things happening in atlanta even as i write this, but from my 15th floor hotel window all that i see are some buildings under construction and a few parking lots.
i had forgotten how easy it is to get bored in a hotel room…and 3 days in the same hotel room…it’s no wonder that bands end up drinking a lot and taking drugs while on tour. i’m not complaining, mind you.
i love touring and i love being able to tour and hotel rooms are relatively comfortable places, but they do breed this weird kind of sterile malaise. which is why one of the nicest things that can happen while on tour is to actually see the real home of a real person.
while on tour you can spend months without actually seeing someones kitchen. and i like kitchens. well, i guess i can go down to the gym and exercise with the business-folk. and then it’ll be 7pm which is, as we all know, simpsons time. and then there’s always dinner.
couldn’t i just rent my brain and body to some scientists while i’m here? they could do experiments on me so at least my down-time would be moderately constructive. ok, off to the gym…
