hi,
just got home from my aborted holiday.
first i went to las vegas for work and to see some friends from the animal rights community who just happened to be in vegas.
then i went to reno to meet some more friends.
then we packed up the rv and went to burning man.
alas, though, i had to come back a lot sooner than expected.
burning man.
this was my first time.
yes, i’m a burning man virgin.
or was. a burning man virgin.
my favorite thing about burning man was the installation that everyone was calling the ‘belgian waffle’. a huge installation made out of 2×4’s.
burning man really is a remarkable phenomenon.
although i’m not so sure about the ticket price…
i don’t want to criticize, but it seems as if a gathering that promotes freedom of expression and anarchic creativity and alternative lifestyles shouldn’t necessarily come with a $250 ticket price…
but that’s just me. seems as if there might be a lot of really interesting people who might not be able to afford a $250 ticket, let alone a flight/drive to reno and the tent/water/food/etc that you need to survive for 5 days in the desert.
but it really is a fascinating phenomenon.
and now back in nyc where the remnants of a hurricane are battering us.
and, as you might know, i love the sound of wind and rain on my skylights.

Journal / Home
home from miami.
new york might be cold and it might be beach-less, but it’s home and i think it’s the most beautiful place in the world(except for northern arizona, and the scottish highlands are pretty great, and new zealand is nice).
i put up some pictures from my trip, if’n you wanna have a look-see.
time to eat spaghetti.
