hi, did you watch obama’s speech to congress last night?
even as an obama fan it was pretty great. and i loved how at the beginning of the speech the republicans refused to clap or stand up, but as it progressed they started clapping and standing up, probably out of fear of being seen as the party of consistently grumpy ole men.
oh, and speaking of republicans, this is interesting: http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/29/where-did-all-the-republicans-go/ a map of the u.s showing the dwindling fortunes of the republican party. but what’s particularly interesting are the comments (from republicans) that follow. most sane republicans seem to be saying,
‘please, let’s figure out how to talk to normal americans, and not just xenophobic high school drop-outs who idolize rush limbaugh.’
unfortunately the republican echo chamber (rush limbaugh, bill o’reilly, the gop in congress, etc) are so far to the right that they’re essentially alienating mainstream america.
in other news, i’m headed to l.a to go to david lynch’s wedding and then to play with the little death friday at dragonfly. if you’re around l.a friday i hope you come to our little rock show.
thanks
moby
