so i was reading an interview with g. gordon liddy (nutcase, right wing crackpot, ate rats in his youth, member of nixon administration, thoroughly respected by bush administration, etc) and he was defending an individuals right to own guns by saying that gun ownership was necessary to protect america from a tyrannical federal government.
i’ve said this before, but are these right-wing gun nuts actually serious?
how long would an armed encounter between a bunch of nra guys with rifles vs. the american military actually last?
30 seconds?
again, i’ve said it before, but 200 years ago the american military had rifles and the populace had rifles. so there was some degree of ordnance parity.
but now the populace have rifles and the american military has daisy-cutter bombs and stealth weapons technology. i just wonder how nra gun nuts can say with a straight face that their hunting rifles could actually be used to overthrow a tyrannical federal government that has the support of a military with enough weaponry to destroy every planet in the solar system.
isn’t it weird how nutty right-wing types deceive themselves and then expect sane people to take them seriously?
and while we’re talking about nutty right-wing types…the bush administration, with the help of a tax-cut for the rich and a war waged under false pretenses, are going to be responsible for the largest deficit in the history of the united states (between 400-600 billon dollars).
the last time that the u.s had huge deficits was when bush’s dad was president.
so…unemployment up, huge deficits, alienated allies, illegal trade practices (steel and agricultural subsidies that are now deemed illegal by the wto), members of the administration who’ve been in jail…yes, it’s very clear that the republicans are in power.
