fucking republicans. grrrr…..
the senate defeated the bush administrations proposal to open the alaskan national wildlife refuge to oil drilling.
and that’s a good thing. that’s a great thing. even if the anwr were opened for oil development tomorrow, the oil wouldn’t reach market for ten years.
so it’s great that the senate defeated the bush proposal. but now the bush administration are trying to say that they only wanted to open up the anwr so that we could limit our reliance upon foreign oil.
uh, excuse me?
you want to limit our reliance upon foreign oil?
then how about developing sustainable, sane, energy sources and encouraging conservation?
how do these lying republicans live with themselves?
they’re anti-abortion but pro-guns and pro-death penalty. they’re supposedly in favour of diminishing our reliance upon foreign oil, but they do nothing to encourage conservation or to develop alternative energy sources.
they’re supposedly in favour of free trade, but only if it benefits the people who contribute to their campaigns.
i know, all politicians lie. but these oily republicans (and not all republicans are oily, just most of them…) are so hypocritical and dishonest and mercenary that it makes me want to scream.
thank goodness that the anwr is protected for the time being. but trust me, the oil companies and the bush administration are thinking up a million other ways to make stupid, environmentally unsound, economically unsound energy policy decisions. there’s only one answer, which is to encourage conservation and develop sane and sustainable energy sources.
now i’m going to turn on cnn and listen to ari fleischer lie some more.
