was gene hackman nominated for an academy award for his performance in ‘the royal tenenbaums’?
if he wasn’t, he should’ve been. what a great performance.
and a pretty delightful movie, too. thanks to continental airlines for showing ‘the royal tenenbaums’, even if they did censor the scene wherein margo tenenbaum kisses another woman. i can understand editing out plane crashes on airline movies, but censoring a scene where a woman romantically kisses another woman? is it 1952? have we gone back in time 50 years? guess what, censors, women kiss women and men kiss men and men kiss women and it’s all pretty normal and it goes on all the time. ok, that’s an issue for another essay.
in any case, gene hackman is amazing in this movie. someone should give him some sort of prize.
