ok, let me tell you a little story.
it’s a funny little story. well, i think it’s a funny little story.
i went out this evening with some friends. we went to a nice bar where some friends were dj’ing. and as a sort of in-joke my friend who was dj’ing played one of my older, more obscure songs. and literally, not 5 seconds after the song had endeda woman came up to me and said, ‘the music here really sucks, do you want to go somewhere else?’.
i looked at her to see if she was being ironic or cheeky, but no, she was in earnest. and i will be amused by this for weeks if not months.
what a funny faux-pas. it reminds me of a story that david bowie told me. he was on a plane in the early 70’s and he was sitting next to a woman who was complaining about elton john. she said, ‘see, i love that david bowie, especially the ‘rocketman’ song, but i can’t stand that elton john with all of the makeup and the red hair.’
she, of course, had confused elton with bowie and didn’t know that she was talking to david bowie and inadvertantly telling him how much she hated him.
but i still love my story. someone trying to pick me up by inadvertantly telling me that my music sucks. hahaha. you have to admit, it’s pretty funny, no?
