someone recently asked me what my favourite line from the simpsons happened to be. after much long and laboured thought i would have to go with the exchange between homer and marge when marge has panic attacks about flying.
they’re sitting in the living room and marge says something to the effect of:
marge-‘everyones got something that they’re scared of, homer.’
homer-‘not me.’
marge-‘sock puppets.’ homer, terrified-‘where!? where??!’ and then runs screaming from the room.
a close second would be when marge is talking about homer to patty and selma and she says about homer ‘oh, he’s just complicated’ and then homer leans out of an upstairs window, shouts ‘wrong!’ and then breaks a plate over his head.
and, of course, anything that comes out ralph wiggums mouth is top-notch. and ‘unpossible’ is a perfectly cromulent word, as we all agreed upon many months ago.
and homer when he’s covering for patty and selma at the dmv by smoking their cigarettes and says ‘i’m in flavor country.’
and now it’s 4 a.m. time for bed.
