actually, persuant to a previously posted board-topic, i believe that ‘fuck’ stands for:
fornication
under
consent( or command )
of the king
i had a philosophy teacher (professor fink. he was terrific.) who explained to me that this was an edict that was employed by british royalty in the middle ages. the purpose of the edict was, insofar as i know, to allow the king to have sex with women who were about to get married. aristocratic couples would come before the king to seek his consent in marriage, and apparently if the women was really attractive the king could choose to have sex with her first (via the ‘command’ aspect of the edict). at least according to professor fink.
it could be a load of hogwash, but it’s still a pretty good story.
some people maintain that the etymology of ‘fuck’ is ‘for unlawful carnal knowledge.’
which might be true, but it seems a bit too convenient.
there’s something satisfying about dealing with a seemingly prurient subject in a nice, dry, academic way.
back to work.
