why do so many americans have such loathing for the way in which the press covers politics?
well, here’s an example.
in reporting a recent speech by president bush, a major media outlet wrote:
“”bush ticked off one area after another in which he has helped the united states move forward, from overhauling medicare to making schools more accountable, ending a drought in job creation and ridding the world of the threat that iraq might provide terrorists with chemical, biological or nuclear weapons.””
now wouldn’t it make sense to report that the bush administration had lied to congress about the cost of their medicare bill(investigation ongoing), and that the medicare bill helps pharmeceutical companies more than it helps people in need?
and wouldn’t it be responsible to point out that bush has underfunded all of his education proposals?
and wouldn’t it be responsible to point out that the bush administration are the first administratioin in 75 years to preside over a net loss of jobs?
and wouldn’t it be responsible to point out that iraq didn’t have chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons?
the press is irresponsible in that they report the bush administrations mis-truths and then never report the actual facts, as evidenced above.
this is why so many americans support president bush, because as a result of the press’ failure to report the truth most americans don’t know that our president is a bald faced liar.
