i, like many people in the world, have read the harry potter books. when i heard that there was this literary phenomenon that was getting kids to turn off their tv’s and read i wanted to see what sort of fiction was inspiring such a strange phenomenon.
so i went out and bought the harry potter books. and i have to say that i really liked them. they were smart and funny and never once did i feel pandered to.
having said that, i went to see the harry potter movie last night and i’m sorry to say that it’s just not that good. it’s not bad, per se, but it’s kind of average and it certainly doesn’t live up to the unique and interesting spirit of the books.
well, that’s my opinion at least. and maybe i’m in the minority, cos everyone else seems to love it.
so maybe i’mjust being a cynical curmudgeon. oh wait, i’m definitely a cynical curmudgeon. ok, maybe not a curmudgeon. ‘curmudgeon’ definitely has a ye olde englishe air about it, doesn’t it? it sounds like something that was used to batter down the gates of a castle. some ‘horrfble instrumente offe warre be thou lothed curmudgeon.’
ok, 2pm. time for breakfast.
have a nice day,
moby
