Journal / Driving in the UK

sorry, it’s been a few days since i’ve written. i was in upstate new york in the woods where i didn’t have internet access and then i was in the air flying to scotland and then i was in scotland and now i’m on a bus driving to manchester.

i still don’t have internet access, but i’m hoping that at some point in the next 24 hours the powers that be will grant me some access to the oft maligned and oft revered interweb.

driving in the uk is so different from driving in the u.s. well, different than driving in the western parts of the u.s tonights drive is 4 hours, and that’s the longest drive of this uk leg of the tour. the longest drive of the western u.s leg of the tour was 25 hours.

it’s funny how the u.s gets bigger as it heads west, whereas europe gets bigger as it heads east. we’re playing a bunch of eastern european and russian shows, and there’s no way that we could drive between them, as they’re so far from each other. to drive from moscow-kiev-prague would be kind of difficult.

tonights show in glasgow got, well, a bit self-indulgent towards the end, as we did a medley of’walk on the wild side’, ‘break on through’, ‘the end’, and ‘immigrant song’.

i do hereby promise that in the future i will try to rein in my desire to play extended sets of classic rock cover songs. the operative word being ‘try’.

ok, maybe i’ll try to go to sleep now. again, the operative word being ‘try’.
