ok, i guess i still don’t understand what the conservative right-wing agenda is.
i just got an email from some conservative, right wing group saying that the american people desire government based on true conservative and right-wing values.
like what?
really, this perplexes me.
traditional conservative values were:
1-small government. but the current republican leadership have created the largest federal government in the history of the united states.
2-christian values. as i’ve said, anyone who is even mildly familiar with the teachings of christ knows that christ probably would not be pro-death penalty, pro-capitalism, and pro-war.
3-fiscal responsibility. again, the current republican leadership have created the largest trade deficit and the largest federal deficit in the history of the united states.
4-free trade. subsidizing moribund domestic industries and engaging in protectionist trade practices are not exactly actions that denote a commitment to free trade.
it might sound like i’m being a whiney limousine liberal, but i’m actually genuinely perplexed.
apart from throwing the social conservatives a few bones(opposing gay marriage, appointing socially conservative judges, etc)the current republican leadership doesn’t seem to have any interest in traditional conservative values or priorities.
so i’m confused and i keep wondering what the old-guard of republican conservatives make of the new-wave of republican southern-baptist conservatives who seem to have nothing but disdain for traditional conservative values as listed above.
ah well, at least it makes for interesting political anthropology.
