Journal / Disturbing Narrative

has anyone else noticed that the news these days has a bad and disturbing narrative?
it’s like we’re living in ‘1984’.
‘we’re at war with oceania!!!!’
oh, uh, wait.
‘we’re at war with al qaeda!!!!’
oh, one more time, sorry for the distraction,’we’re at war with iraqqqq!!!! vote republican!!!’
sorry to be such a cynic, but i feel like we’re in the middle of some over-arching, utterly bizarre, narrative conspiracy. none of this shit is actually real, is it? we’re all being played.sounds naive and simple, but it’s true. facts are being constructed and manipulated to serve the interests of some very powerful and disparate groups of people.
i’m not a conspiracy theorist, by the way. but our very normal world is being fucked with. cos let’s face facts, we’re normal. the news purports a world that is nuts and on the verge of disintigration.
but we’re all pretty normal, right?
most muslims aren’t terrorists.
most americans don’t want to bomb iraq.
so why are we being so utterly misled by our leaders? what comfort do our leaders take in lying to us and misleading us? the comfort of order? superiority? when we all wake up, their comfort will be like a barely remembered dream.
