ok, of course i have to write about the debate.
and, in my attempt to be quasi-unbiased, i do believe that john kerry won this first debate.
bush didn’t do badly, but he seemed fidgety and defensive and tautological, whereas kerry seemed presidential and respectable and authoritative.
i’m sure that people might disagree with me regarding this, but it seemed to me that kerry was the clear winner.
it almost seemed like teacher and student, with kerry being the wise and authoritative teacher and bush being the fidgety student.

you know what bothered me the most in the debate?
when the candidates were talking about the proliferation of nuclear materiel and their plans to keep fissionable materiel out of the hands of terrorists. bush retorted ‘that’s why we need a missile defense shield’.
wait.
we need a trillion dollar missile defense shield to protect ourselves against a terrorist with a 5 pound nuclear weapon?
i wish that kerry had said: ‘president bush, the terrorists do not have inter continental ballistic missiles.’
i also liked when bush said ‘mexed missages’.
