huh, just reading an article about the danish cartoons and the maelstrom that has followed their publication.
again, who knew that the apocalypse was going to be ushered in by a scandinavian cartoon?
the irony being that the danes are about the nicest, most tolerant people on the planet.
i’ve often fantasized about marrying a danish woman and having little danish kids who would have great educations and health-care and would be involved in a civil society where 48% of the people in government are women.
yes, this is what progressive types like me fantasize about…
i know, it’s comical.
and a lot of news outlets are refusing to publish the cartoons out of ‘respect for islam’…
sure…
just fyi, in the media ‘respect for islam’ means ‘please don’t firebomb our middle-east offices’.
this whole cartoon imbrogilio would be kind of funny if it wasn’t becoming so serious and if people weren’t dying and if the repercussions weren’t shaping up to be long-lasting and pernicious.
