as you know, damian loeb is one of my oldest friends.
damian is a figurative-realist painter(an exceptionally good
figurative realist painter)who has been showing
figurative-realist work for the last decade.
the artist damien hirst(previously known for embalmed
animals and his famous dot paintings)has a new show
up in new york that is apparently quite good.
it’s a show of figurative realist paintings as done
by mr hirst and his assistants.
the reason that i’m writing this update is to point
out to anyone who’s willing to listen that the same critics
who are praising damian hirst are the same critics
who have in the past savaged damian loeb, even though
there are huge similarities between mr hirst’s new
figurative-realist paintings and the figurative-realist
paintings that damian loeb has been showing
for the last decade.
i’m not saying that mr. hirst has intentionally borrowed from
damian loeb, i’m just saying that if the art world are going
to champion mr hirst for showing figurative-realist paintings,
then they might want to re-consider the work of damian
loeb who has been showing remarkable figurative-realist
works for the last decade.
thanks,
moby
