so, some people criticized me for the post wherein condi rice said that the bush administration wasn’t warned about al qaeda plans to hijack airplanes, but that the wall street journal wrote that the clinton administration had been given information that al qaeda planned on hijacking airplanes.
to clarify: if you’ve read richard clarke’s(or paul o’neill’s)book you would realize that the clinton administration passed all of their counterterrorist info(including this piece of intel)to the bush administration but that the bush administration was too focussed on sdi and the after effects of the cold war(condi rice being a soviet studies scholar)to pay attention to any intel involving terrorism and al qaeda. that’s according to richard clarke who was the head of counterterrorism under bush and clinton.
the bush administration were given loads of intel on the possibility of terrorist attacks on u.s soil, they just(as is very well documented) chose to ignore it.
