so now the vatican has issued a statement opposing gay marriage.
hmm.
catholicism, like all christian religions, are supposedly based upon the teachings of christ, right?
see, it’s strange that christians get so bent out of shape about homosexuality, cos the truth is that no one knows what jesus might or might not think about homosexuality.
the reason being is that christ never mentioned homosexuality, or if he did it didn’t get written down i’m oftentimes nonplussed at the priorities of the church.
they are anti-abortion and christ isn’t recorded as having said anything about abortion (in fact abortion in the first tri-mester was legal for many centuries in the early catholic church).
they are anti-homosexuality and christ isn’t recorded as having said anything about homosexuality.

they are pro-family, and christ didn’t really say all that much about the family. christ did say some things that don’t seem to be given too much prominence in the doctrines of the contemporary church, and to paraphrase:
‘not only shouldn’t you kill someone, you shouldn’t even be angry with them.’
‘you should forgive someone even if they sin against you 1,000 times.’
‘you can’t worship god and money.’
‘you shouldn’t judge.’
‘work on your own shortcomings before judging the shortcomings of others.’
and so on.
ok, that’s it for now.
the contemporary church puzzles me at times.

i’m in london now and i’m going to go and eat spaghetti.
