so being a connosieur (i have no idea how to spell that word, did i get it right?) of highbrow culture i went to see ‘lilo and stitch’ this evening.
ok, don’t make fun of me. i like cartoons. put some cartoons on the big screen and i’ll fork over my $10 without a moments hesitation. but boy was this movie wonderful. absolutely wonderful. i went to see it with my friends damian and rachel, and i think that we were all kind of shocked at just how often we laughed out loud. ‘her head is too big and it’s cos a bug laid eggs in her ear and now she only has 3 days left to live…’
isn’t it ironic that cartoon characters usually get the best lines?
go see this movie. it was wonderful. little stitch dressed up as elvis on the beach (and fat, las vegas elvis, of course. elvis at his cheeseburger eating best.) is an image that i’ll keep in my head for a long time.
and i was reminded that one of the best things about nyc is that you can walk everywhere. we walked from a restaurant to my house to rachels house to damians house to vp3 in chinatown to battery park and then back through tribeca to home.
my one disappointment for today was that i missed grace jones performing in central park. she was performing for gay-pride week, and i had beenplanning on going but i slept too late…my loss.i’m sure that she was wonderful. hopefully she did ‘la vie en rose.’ i think that’s my favourite grace jones song. although her version of ‘warmleatherette’ is pretty great, too.
tomorrow, sunday, i have nothing to do. what a luxury. i might go to coney island. i might go kayaking. i might just eat indian food until i pass out.
who knows? unstructured time, what a luxury.
have a nice weekend. go see the ‘lilo and stitch’ movie. it’s very good.
