congratulations cory booker!
i met cory in 2002 when he was first running for mayor of newark.
he lost, supposedly, by 3,500 votes (the campaign is chronicled in the movie ‘street fight’, which was nominated for an academy award).
and yesterday (tuesday) was the day for newark’s mayoral election and the early results show that cory has won with close to 65% of the vote.
cory is an incredibly smart, principled, and dedicated public servant.
and some of his friends have joked that we’re going to make t-shirts that have a picture of him with ‘fbp’ underneath it.
‘fbp’ of course standing for ‘first black president’.
cory will make a great mayor, and he’ll make a great president in 14 years when he becomes america’s first black president.
