washington (reuters) – the u.s. agriculture department said it will announce on wednesday a recall of about 300,000 pounds of meat due to concerns over listeria, though this could not be linked to a listeria outbreak that has caused at least 20 deaths and 120 illnesses.

ok, i don’t want to be a vegan evangelist, but doesn’t it seem like there’s always some health-related problem with meat? e. coli, high cholesterol, pesticide concentrations, bovine-spongiform-encephalitis, listeria, etc.

i mean, when was the last time that the usda recalled 300,000 pounds of broccoli cos it was killing people and making them sick?
and when was the last time that a doctor or nutritionist said ‘your cholesterol is too low and you need to gain weight, so eat more hot dogs.’?
just something to think about.
