Journal / brief update, as it’s time for bed.

president bush vetoed a democratic piece of legislation that would begin to bring u.s troops home from iraq.
he vetoed this piece of legislation 4 years after standing beneath a banner that read ‘mission accomplished’.
i mean, really, does anyone take him seriously any more?
even a little bit?
and today the bush administration threatened to veto legislation that would make attacking someone based on gender or sexual orientation a hate crime.
i mean, call me crazy, but i imagine that even some virulent misogynists and homophobes might believe that women and gays deserve special protection from being violently attacked because of their gender and sexual orientation.
so in a couple of days the bush administration has opposed a plan to bring the troops back home and also vowed to oppose federal legislation that would make attacking women and gays a hate crime.
wow.
what’s next, bush proposed legislation that subsidises beating up kittens?
maybe some republican legislation that makes not beating up puppies a felony?
they sure know how to make friends, huh.
