i know that the boards have been slow lately…
we had a meeting yesterday about some possible steps that can be taken to make the boards speedier.
hopefully these steps will be implemented in the next couple of weeks and the boards will be faster.
one thing that we’re going to try to implement is a more efficient archiving system. posts that go untouched for 15 or 20 days will automatically be archived. and they will be archived in an archive that will be accessible by anyone. and this archive will also contain all of the old posts that have hitherto been inaccessible, but will soon be easily accessed.
this will be the first step in making the boards faster.
thanks again for your patience.
oh, one other thing…one of the things that slows down the boards is when people click on the same thing many times. if you click on something once (the ‘submit’ button for example) your request gets put in line on the server. the more requests the server receives the slower it operates. so if you click on something and nothing happens and you click again, and again (as we all do) each request gets put in line and slows the server down even more.
so if we want speedy boards we should only click on something once.
i learned all sorts of interesting stuff yesterday. thanks axispoint for coming to my house and learnin’ me on all a this hi tech stuff. i’m a feel smarter, i tells ya what.
thanks again.
