Journal / Athens New Airport

hi,
in athens now.
just watched a terrible movie about magic stones.
not magic stoners.
magic stones.
and i was pleased to see that athens has a new airport.
no offense to greece and the wonderful people who live here, but the old athens airport was, well, a bit unpleasant.
i think that the last time that i was in athens i got off of the plane and waited in line at customs for an hour and then staggered out into the baking hot sun and felt as if i’d died and been reincarnated as a frying pan.
that old athens airport was pretty rough. although some of the accoutrements were cool. i wonder what happened to them?
some of the signs in the old airport looked as if they hadn’t been changed since the 50’s. i hope that they’ve gone to a good home.
so congratulations athens on having a new airport, even if it is 11 hours from downtown.

it happens everywhere. it happened in milan and oslo and etc. they replace the old airport that is near the city with a new airport that is miles away from the city. so the plus is that you get a new airport. and the downside is that you’re 2 hours from the city.
munich. they did it there, too. and i might’ve mentioned it before but i think that i was on the last flight to ever leave from the old munich airport. it was creepy and cool, walking through a completely deserted airport to the one remaining and open gate. and then they turned the old airport into a bunch of nightclubs and concert halls. i wonder what they do with it now? maybe it’s a wal-mart.

and why isn’t anyone in america more upset that bush and his cronies apparently lied about the ‘intelligence’ that was used to justify the war against iraq?
bill clinton lied about infidelity.
george bush lied about military intelligence so that he could wage a war that cost hundreds of billions of dollars and that alienated all of our allies and that resulted in thousands of deaths. apparently the iraqii’s had no involvement with al qaeda, and no weapons of mass destruction and no nuclear weapons program. at least that’s according to military intelligence that was delivered to george bush. but bush and his henchmen chose to lie about the information they’d been given and instead fabricate intelligence to justify their oil war.
and no one in america cares?
that george bush lied to start a war that will cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars and has resulted in dead iraqii’s and dead allied and american soldiers?

ok, i don’t want to think about it. just another creepy and illegal and unethical thing that the bush administration has done and that they’ll probably get away with.
ugh.
