ok, this is a serious non-partisan question.
why do we have daylight savings time?
and, more specifically, why do we not abolish daylight savings time in the interest of saving energy?
when the clocks go back it gets darker earlier.
thus more lights go on.
thus more energy is used.
multiply that by 1 billion people turning on 1 billion lights for 1 hour more each day and the energy costs of daylight savings time are astronomical.
so why don’t the leaders of the free world abolish daylight savings time in the interest of saving billions of gallons of oil, etc?
seriously, why not?
