todays date looks nice.
2-20-2001
at least that’s how it’s written here in the states. in europe and other parts of the world it would be 20-2-2001 which still looks kind of nice.
but written the american way it has a nice sense of build up and anticipation.
2-20-2001
not to say the american way is better. i imagine that some dates look much nicer written in the non-american way.
2-20-2001 just isn’t one of them.
i’m still here in l.a, keeping busy. today i shot a skit with andy dick for his upcoming tv show. it was fun. my first attempt at on-screen comedy. i’m sure i’ll be atrocious, in the long and shamefully grand tradition of musicians trying to do non-musical related things such as acting.
i did it for fun, not because i have any aspirations to become a master thespian.
i know for a fact that i couldn’t act my way out of a wet paper bag, which is fine with me. i sometimes get annoyed when celebrities do overtly dilletantish stuff. like when musicians act. why not leave the acting to the people who’ve spent their lives studying to be actors? and why don’t musicians do really interesting things, like become chess masters? or genetic engineers. the world could certainly use a few more chess masters and genetic engineers, don’t you agree?
can you tell that it’s late and that i’m rambling?
i just tried on my fancy tuxedo for the grammy’s. it might be a shameful thing to admit, but i do have a soft-spot in my heart for a nice suit or tuxedo. i normally don’t pay attention to clothes, but a really nice suit or tuxedo (especially a powder blue tuxedo with gigantic ruffles. ha. ha) can be a nice thing.
so if you see me on the television and i’m wearing a fancy suit, please be kind and understanding….i was impressionable and i watched too much tv when i was young and all of the cool guys wore nice suits….james bond, frank sinatra, dick van dyke, etc.
is it sad to have ones sense of sartorial aesthetics influenced by repeats on television that one saw when one was a little nipper?
ok, goodnight.
