you know, i’d be lying if i said that i wasn’t a bit concerned about beginning a 2 week tour of france right now.
it seems that every night the riots are getting worse, and now the rioters are killing people.
i’m sure that everything will be fine, but i do admit that i’m concerned.
it just seems so odd, cos i’m not quite sure what the rioters are rioting for?
they have complaints about police brutality and abuse, but i don’t know how burning buildings and cars is going to in any way make things better for them.
if i were french i would have a serious fear that the rioting is just going to push many voters in france even further towards jean-marie le pen and the extreme right.
the far-right in france already had a lot of support, and the rioting is just going to take more moderate voters in france and incline them towards supporting right-wing/anti-immigrant candidates in the future.
so the sad irony is that the actions of the rioters will probably end up making things worse for immigrants in france in the long term.
