you know, of all the videos i ever made this one is probably my favorite.
i get choked up whenever i watch it.

i hadn’t seen it in a while and someone recently sent me the youtube link to it.
oops, dangling participle.
bad grammar.
sorry.
it’s such a cute video.
ok, have a nice day.

today we shot the video for ‘lift me up'(thanks to everyone who came down to the video shoot and thanks to evan bernard and his fantastic production team/company!)and tomorrow we shoot the video for ‘beautiful’.
shooting videos near to home when you get to have your friends in the band with you is fun.
i sound like a 6 year old.
going to the pool and having hi-c with your friends is fun.
then we watched spongebob. it was fun.
i like horses and trains.
i don’t like miss georgie, she is mean and i don’t like math and when she makes me do math.
ok, getting back to quasi-adulthood:
i get to wear a suit in both videos.
it’s a suit that i bought at the salvation army years ago, but don’t tell anyone, cos it looks fancy.
well, perhaps it looks fancy.
or perhaps it makes me look like a southern jesuit bible salesman from the 1930’s.
or both.
ok, goodnight.

hi.
we’re in the desert (a town in california called victorville).
and we’re making a music video on a 5,000 acre ranch where they take old planes to die and be canibalized. it’s really bizarre. 100’s and 100’s of planes just sitting in the desert being decommissioned and used for spare parts. there’s even one 747 that is all white, from head to toe. the moby-dick of 747’s.
and if i sound slow and dim it’s because we’ve been shooting for 14-16 hours each day. and i enjoy making videos, but long days kind of make me dim in the brain.
and they put all of these great and trashy pop-culture magazines in my trailer, so now i know who the richest women in hollywood are, and what was going on in milan during fashion week, and what cameron diaz likes to eat for lunch, and etc. all very important stuff, i can assure you. i can’t imagine that i’ve spent so much time wallowing in ignorance, unaware of the fact that the women from ‘friends’ each make 24 million dollars a year.
24 million dollars a year to be bubbly and pithy. schoolteachers make $30,000 a year, and jennifer aniston makes $24,000,000 a year. ah well. just this once i’ll resist making the obvious sociological platitudes.
ok, back to the dead-plane ranch.

yes. you’ve figured it out. the sexy guy in the bathroom in the ‘we are all made of stars’ video is….rick springfield.
no. it’s me. in a rick springfield wig. hair. sigh.
and there’s a special prize for anyone who can figure out who all of the guests are in the video. i mean, it’s my video and i don’t even know who all of these people are.
joseph kahn does great work.

so the ‘we are all made of stars’ video is, apparently, minutes away from being finished.
yee-haw.
it’s looking really good, if i do say so myself.
actually, i can say great things about the video, cos apart from making the music and singing the song in the video i really had nothing to with coming up with the idea.
it was conceived of and directed by joseph kahn (who made the ‘southside’ video). he’s really a remarkable director. he and his crew of people work so hard, it’s really no wonder why they’re so successful.
the video should be released in the next few weeks. i hope that you guys like it. i like it a lot. and wait until you see the guest stars that we have in the video..
i think that we’ve invented a new parlour-game, ‘figure out all of the guests in the “”we are all made of stars”” video’. if you can guess every different guest in the video you’re either a complete genius or you’ve spent way too much time paying obsessive attention to popular culture…
note: 5 points to anyone who can guess the actor doing the cameo in the bathroom scene.
it’s probably the most obscure cameo in the video.
