Journal / ‘m in the very beautiful gisborne, new zealand, which apparently is the first city after the dateline to see the new day

not sure when this update/blog/journal will go up, as it’s the week between christmas and new years and people aren’t necessarily at their computers. so maybe this will be old news, assuming that this is news.

i’m in the very beautiful gisborne, new zealand, which apparently is the first city after the dateline to see the new day. which means that it is far, far away from almost anything. new zealand is a remarkable place. if you haven’t been, i can only suggest that you figure out a way to give yourself a month to just ride and hike around new zealand.

in other news: a man tried to blow himself (and the plane, too, i’m guessing?) up on a northwest air flight? i mean, who in their right mind thinks that blowing up a plane would make god happy? does a terrorist on a plane think, ‘oh, won’t god be happy when i kill these babies and old ladies and people going on holiday?’ as a terrorist is sitting in the airport looking at parents with their kids is he/she really thinking that they’re the enemy?

i just wonder where the religious leaders are who should be saying, ‘hey, to be very, very clear, god doesn’t want you to kill innocent people’. i know it sounds simple, but i just don’t know of any holy teachings where believers are specifically enjoined to go out and kill innocent passengers on an airplane (or in a pizza parlor, or hotel, or etc).

ok, back to new zealand. time to go adopt a kiwi bird.
