how ironic…
i’m in australia and john howard(aussie pm) is in the u.s.
maybe we should trade responsibilities?
john howard(we have a similar hairline)could play some old rave classics(‘go’, ‘thousand’, ‘next is the e’, etc)and i could give my honest opinion on the war in iraq(a tragically sad, hubris inspired invasion that has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths purely in the interest of acquiring the worlds 2nd largest oil reserves).
i wonder if john howard and gw bush will kiss slowly and softly or with the ardent passion of long seperated lovers?
i vote for the latter, to be honest with you.
but then again, i do think that aussies should count their blessings in having a right wing pm who in america would probably be seen as a left wing liberal…
i say this based on the fact that john howard’s not interested in removing evolution from educational curriculii, and he’s not actively involved in appointing justices who are opposed to a woman’s right to choose.
in america this would make him a member of the fringe left.

Journal / Ironic

you know what’s kind of ironic?
ok, here’s what’s kind of ironic.
well, 2 things, and forgive me, they’re sort of political(‘yee-haw, another political journal entry!’ i can hear you say…).
ok,
1-it’s ironic that before the u.s invaded iraq the iraqi government was secular(and terrible and brutal, obviously), but that once the iraqi people are allowed to practice self-determinism they will most likely have a fundamentalist islamic government.
so the irony is that one of the by-products of the war in iraq is that $100 billion dollars in american money will have been spent turning a secular middle-eastern country into a fundamentalist islamic one.
you have to admit, given u.s foreign policy, that’s kind of ironic.
2-it’s also ironic that before the war in iraq there was(as has been proven and documented)no al qaeda presence in iraq and now there’s a huge al qaeda presence in iraq.

see, i’m not editorializing, alls i’m sayin is that these 2 things are ironic.
not nice irony. not sweet irony. not alanis morrisette style irony. just good-ole-fashioned irony.
other political ironies du jour:
1-our ‘i’m a war president’ commander in chief skipped out on a significant chunk of his military service.
2-the gop have been criticizing john kerry for not supporting illegal foreign policy(iran-contra)in the 80’s.

oh, and an aside, what about mars?
remember how 2 weeks before the state of the union address bush was all gung-ho on going to mars and then in the state of the union address he didn’t mention it?
doesn’t that seem odd?
athletes using steroids got a mention, but not the trip to mars that he’d been focussing on?
does mssr. bush know that going to mars is kind of, well, difficult?

ok, that’s it for now.
have a nice weekend.
go see rene risque.
