Journal / House Music

do you know what’s been exciting me, musically, as of late?
house music. plain, simple house music. whenever i go out and listen to house music i’m just stunned at how good it’s been lately.
and for the most part it’s good for the sake of being good, without too much commercial pressure.
most other genres of contemporary music are leaving me kind of cold these days, but house music is kicking my ass.

that’s it. just my little 2 cents about house music.
thanks

Journal / House Music

ok, it’s very late. i just got back from a big club here in san francisco and i had a great time listening to house music. i’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again…i love house music. especially really repetitive, tribal, tech-y sort of house. i’m sure there’s a name for it, as there’s a name for every miniscule genre of dance music. ‘are you into 12 step, tech beat, cool skool?’ ‘no, i’m more into shuffled tribal, new skool, old breaks, 14 step, retro dub’ ‘oh, cool, yeah, me too’.
but in any case, i had a great night standing around listening to loud house music and looking at lasers.
i may be simple, but at least i’m easily amused.
and repetitive, tribal house music never ceases to keep me transfixed.
cos i’m simple and cos it’s sexy and hypnotic.
