ok, i'll stop writing about politics for a while, but let's just clear up some
things.
for a start, mccain and obama's 'missed votes' in the current term:
according to the washington post:
mccain missed 407 votes in the current term
obama missed 290 votes in the current term.
let's move on, ok? obama's not a muslim. there's nothing wrong with being
a muslim, but obama's not a muslim. he was brought up christian and was
married in a christian church and his kids were baptised in a christian church
and he talks often about his christianity.
again, if he were a muslim it'd be no big deal to me, personally, but he's a christian.
john mccain is on wife #2. he divorced his current wife after she had an accident.
he admits that he was cheating on wife #1 with wife #2 when wife #1 was in the hospital.
obama is on wife #1.
this disturbs me: john mccain called his wife a cunt. oops, to quote senator mccain, 'a cunt'. he lost his temper
in public and was recorded saying to his wife, 'at least i don't plaster on the makeup
like a trollop, you cunt.' this is the same wife who has bought him his homes and lets
him use her private planes.
(note, 'trollop' is ye olde english for 'whore').
people talk about obama's experience being similar to sarah palin.
well, obama was the head of the harvard law review, then he was a civil rights
lawyer and a community organizer in chicago, then he spent 7 years in the illinois
state senate. now he is currently serving his first term in d.c as a senator from illinois.
sarah pallin was a runner up in the miss alaska beauty contest, a member of the pta, a member of the wallis chamber of commerce(pop. 5,000),
the mayor of wallis(pop. 5,000), and is currently in her first term as governor of alaska.
political discourse doesn't need to be rancorous(unless it's funny).
it does sort of drive me crazy when republicans spout un-truths in order to criticize
obama('he's a muslim and a socialist!'...again, he's neither).
if you disagree with someone's political philosophy, fine, then don't vote for them.
but spreading lies and mistruths doesn't end up serving anyone very well, especially
when the mistruths are so egregiously wrong.
mccain is more conservative, obama's more liberal. mccain is anti-choice, obama
is pro-choice. mccain has said that he could see u.s troops being in iraq for 100 years,
obama wants to bring them home sooner. mccain wants to make bush's tax cuts(which
primarily benefit the wealthy)permanent, and obama wants to cut taxes for the middle
class and the poor and raise taxes for the wealthy. mccain voted against legislation
that would help women earn equal pay, obama voted for legislation that would help
women earn equal pay. and so on.
you find the candidate you agree with and you vote for them. if you feel strongly you give
money to their campaign and maybe try to talk other people into voting for him/her.
spreading mis-truths about the candidate you disagree with just makes you look silly and ends up cheapening the debate.
ok, time for a break from politics.
i just ask that you at least be civil with each other(or be funny. if you're going to be an asshole
at least be a funny asshole. same thing goes with being wrong. if you're going
to be wrong, at least entertain us in your wrong-ness. something like: 'obama wears
an upside down nazi flag pin made from the sweat of the devil! and his full name is actually 'barack hussein
baby-eater mussolini witchcraft burn-the-flag socialist black helicopter herpes obama'. see, that would be funny.
if you're going to be wrong or an asshole, be a wrong, funny asshole).
oh, and thanks for coming to wembley tonight if you came to wembley.

Just because I am an Alaskan, I'd like to point out that she was Mayor of Wasilla, and I've never heard of a town called Wallis. :)
And while I am on the subject of Alaska, I would also like to point out that in Anchorage during the primary for the Democrats we had a record breaking, traffic choking turn out, 75% of whom supported Obama. So hopefully this will remind people that not even everyone in Alaska is on the McCain/Palin team. We may have only 3 electoral votes, but that is 3 votes McCain doesn't deserve.

Ok so I am writing this influenced by mostly alcohol and a little bit of sleep deprivation. This is my locker room rant from tonight just being carried on (but there is no one here to listen to me at 5am).
Now im not the kinda person who gets into the whole politics thing… I cant stand politics, and I try to ignore it all for the most part.
Now before I go on…MOM I am sorry if you ever read this, PLEASE don’t take it personally!
Like I said im not one to get in to the politics thing but Sarah Palin… how can I not! there are many things she has against her, lack of experience and what not. My favorite was how she describes her self your average hockey mom. What the hell does this have to do with her being VP? And what is she going to do? organize the year end potluck, maybe make sure the president has chilled juice boxes and fresh sliced oranges waiting in a cooler for after his state of the union address. Maybe she can lead a cheer at the end of his speeches… !Ok everyone! hands in…2,4,6,8, who do we…. Well you get the idea. I have grown up playing hockey, I have seen hockey moms in action, and deal with them every day, (hell I grew up with one). And to think she would be #2 in line to run our country. Maybe there will de a new Disney movie made about her: D15: the Mighty Ducks go to the white house ( the quack attack is back jack.. And with vengeance!)
As if this year wasn’t interesting enough with all the characters, McCain just threw another log on the fire. This election is starting to sound like a soap… Next week on “As Your Votes Are Counted” will Obamma announce his new running mate is a midget, and will McCain’s wives find out he has been having an affair with the bearded lady??? firstly, though it may denote a prostitute, its connotations are more towards the slattern, the girl who doesn't wash her knickers..which incidentally is also the proper meaning of slut and so actually more insulting than the meaning you take from it
because, secondly,

I hear sarah palin wants the death sentence for abortion
I got told over the phone today when talking to a friend who is a democratic party member in america, that sarah palin considers abortion to be a form of murder and that (if they win the election and make abortion illegal) she thinks women who have abortions ought to get the death sentence. Woah!!! How progressive is that?
I'm thinking that surely you would not have been able to refrain from making a mention of that on here if you knew about it already moby. I mean there's a difference between making abortion illegal (which would be bad enough of course) and having women who are desperate enough to then have illegal abortions be put to death afterwards. I was also told that sarah would like access to contraceptives to be restricted to married couples only.
Please write another political post soon moby. I like your political commentaries, and I'm glad to see from other comments here that I'm not the only one.
I know I said I was not going to be commenting here for a while because of a dream I had about a little wild creature being trapped in a gap between two transparent plastic walls that made up a part of frame around a virtual reality interactive DVD game that you yourself had created for people like me to play - which I'd interpretted to mean that I (like the lizard) had been caught up in the wrong place and ought not to be expending too much energy virtually interacting with you like this in cyber space being a place from which I can't quite reach you, but I just had to pop back in briefly to tell you the news in case you hadn't heard about it already because I'm sure a post from you about those ideas of sarah palins would be an interesting post. Although the person I spoke to was someone who I think is very likely a reliable information source, it is almost unbelievable so I'd appreciate it if you could check up on it and let us know what you find out.

I have to say thanks so much for keeping us updated on politics. I hate politics because I find it boring. I don't know why, it's just boring. Biology, fine. Chemistry, Physics, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Philosophy, Religion, Art, Science, Literature (etc.) yes - interesting to people and I understand the interest. Even History - I understand. But... things like: Marketing? Business? Finance? Economics? Poli-Sci? (and for that matter Sports?) Why??? I just don't understand. Anyway, I am a democrat - for the usual reasons, and you keep me from being overly ignorant about the candidates & the issues. I try to be responsible and contribute things, like my vote - but I have to admit, I pay so little attention that I wouldn't be able to defend my choice. (eg.: I am voting democrat bcuz... uh...) But - now I can use what I learn from your blog! :)! Also, I just really enjoy your commentary. So thanks alot.

One thing that has contributed in a large way to my vote is the fact that Obama's initiative includes promoting the incorporation of chiropractic as a form of health care to support the medical system. Mccain has not formed any front on this topic.
