i know, everyone else on the planet is going to point this out, but it's worth remembering that our
genius of a president stood on the deck of an aircraft carrier 5 years ago and stated: 'major combat
operations in iraq are finished' while a banner pronouncing 'mission accomplished' hung behind him.
30,000 u.s troops have been wounded since president genius announced 'mission accomplished'.
around 100,000 iraqii's have died since president mensa announced 'major combat operations in iraq are finished'.
does anyone remember the old miller lite advertisements wherein 2 men argued 'tastes great!' 'less filling!'
and they were both right?
well, the failure of the bush administration will, in the future, be argued along similar lines.
some people will say, 'the bush administration failed due to sheer ignorance and stupidity.'
others will argued, 'the bush administration failed due to overwhelming arrogance and entitlement.'
but why argue?
the bush administration failed due to ignorance, stupidity, arrogance, and entitlement.
ew, bush and his gop cronies are just an expensive and depressing stain on american history.

First title of the new album - ooh yeah

Today I bought the new double vinyl album at my record dealer in Hannover/Germany. Last time I heard a new album´s first title five times one after another was "Hung up" by Madonna.

Very fine sound, that bring myself back into the 80´s, the decade I grew up.

So it´s not often, that i like a new music piece first time listening.

mission accomplished??

Just had to say "amen" to your journal entry.
Also just read an article over at Huff Po that Amurka is #1 in "Bible reading" but #37 in infant mortality...what's wrong with this picture?
I hope it's not too late for us to catch up with them "heathen" Europeans with all their health care and social safety nets!
It's gotta get better, right?
I mean we can't just go on like this!
If Obama makes it, maybe it will?

Mission Accomplished

When Dubya replaced Clinton in office----gas was $1.39 a gallon.

It's now closely hovering the $4.00 a gallon mark here in southern Cali.

He should bring his banner over my local Chevron station.

May 1

The Iraq war is a real shame. Unfortunately, our troops are still there as well. But the government has already taken a decision of the war end. The troops will be taken home soon.
But for me May 1 brings other memories. It is an International Labor Day that was celebrated in communist countries as a biggest holiday of the year. So when I was a kid I took part in great parades. You were given flowers, flags, banners or balloons and you had to march, wave them and smile. They had their mechanisms to check whether everyone took part in it. Luckily these days are gone. It is still a day off work/ school but nowadays probably children do not even know what we celebrate today. They probably think it’s a grill holiday:). But still there are countries with the regime around the globe. Some of them very close to usa.
A few years ago I went for holiday to Cuba. I met a young man, handsome, with great sense of humor, knowing perfect English etc. As we worked as a guide I asked him which countries he visited. He said none. He could not get a passport. His parents were old so they were allowed to get ones. But as he was young and well educated he was not given a passport - he could leave and never return. So he probably still lives on this beautiful island without possibility of going anywhere else….
I think there are still so many things that can be changed around the world. The war is a very universal problem everywhere. It is really good when people that are admired by others stay involved and make others think. Thanks. Best regards.
